ABOUT ME

With over 25 years of experience in independent and international education, including IGCSE and IBDP programmes, I draw on extensive leadership and classroom experience that have consistently helped students achieve outstanding results across diverse educational contexts.

Since 2014, I have served as an IB History examiner, including the Extended Essay (EE), Internal Assessment (IA), and Papers 1-3 at various times, while continuing to teach and lead in international schools, including senior roles in Humanities and Theory of Knowledge. This experience ensures my feedback is practical, up-to-date, and directly aligned with how assessments are marked.

Many capable students underperform not because they lack knowledge or research skills, but because their thinking doesn’t align with how marks are actually awarded.

What I Offer

I help students understand:

  • How examiners interpret assessment criteria in practice
  • How performance bands are differentiated
  • Why certain essays move into the highest mark ranges
  • How the use of command terms can help develop the structure of strong responses

My work gives students the guidance they need to:

  • Organise arguments for maximum clarity and impact
  • Analyse sources and evidence more effectively
  • Make reasoned evaluations that earn them top marks
  • Express complex ideas more clearly
  • Approach assessments with confidence

My Approach

I believe that high-level academic performance is less about natural ability and more about thinking with purpose and understanding what examiners are looking for.

In my experience, assessment literacy is rarely taught explicitly. Students are often told to “analyse more” or “evaluate further” without always being shown what that actually means in practice.

My goal is to make those expectations clear and actionable for students. The feedback I provide on student drafts is structured, clear, and focused on what matters for great results. I do not rewrite or edit their work. Instead, I give them the guidance they need to make improvements that directly support top marks.

Strong outcomes come from disciplined, intentional thinking. My work is designed to help students build that skill while improving the quality of their work.
